Founder-Market Fit

How well a founder's skills, experience, and passion align with the market they're building for.

Unlike product-market fit which measures product-demand alignment, founder-market fit measures whether the founding team is uniquely positioned to win in their chosen market. Strong fit means faster decisions, deeper customer empathy, and more resilience. Weak fit means longer learning curves, more costly mistakes, and higher chance of burnout. First Round Capital found that founders with domain expertise were 2.1x more likely to reach Series A.
